SWAT note: We try to find the very best fit for our dogs when talking with people about adoption. Mostly we are VERY successful, our pets find their loving, forever homes and then we've done our job. Sometimes though, we miss the mark. We adopt out a pup that comes back to us, one way or the other, and we know immediately that we have failed him/her. This is Jackie, and this is her story:
I was a SWAT puppy; back then, my name was Kooper but my new family changed it to J ackie. I came in with my siblings back in September, 2018. I was a little bitty thing (I'll show you my picture if I can find it). My brothers looked like Catahoulas...I was BLACK and beautiful. I was adopted by a young girl and SWAT decided that between her and her mother, I would be safe and loved. The young girl was too busy for me, she didn't have time to train me to be a best friend, then she moved. She left me with her mother who had already given back one adopted dog to the Shelter, that dog was in bad shape when she came back. The Shelter called SWAT and they called to check on me. I heard my new mom say that she loved me and life was great, but it wasn't so great for me. I was locked out in the backyard most of the time. No one was playing with me or teaching me stuff...I was on my own. THEN, she gave me to some friends. I'm not sure why they took me, they didn't really love me either. Maybe the just felt sorry for me. Soon, they took me to the Shelter where my friend had gone earlier...there I sat. My Shelter friends called SWAT and they came to bail me out. Since I've been with my SWAT foster, I am trying to learn my name, I have learned that being crated to sleep at night isn't a bad thing, I've learned to use the doggy doors because peeing in the house is NOT allowed (and my foster mom says that with a LOT of emotion)! Now I know how to sit and wait; I'm working on other words. I get along with all the other dogs and love to play. I like to harass our Alpha. She's old and sometimes she puts me in my place. I'll learn one day. I like the cat, sort of in a let's coexist way. I was really interested in the chickens when I came but apparently even looking in their direction is another thing that brings on foster mom emotion...so I don't look. I do walk well on a leash and as soon as I know my name, I can walk with the pack off leash. My foster mom says that I'd be a perfect fit for kids and humans that like to snuggle. I am Jackie. I am a Viszula/Catahoula miixed with something really black. I weigh 38 lbs and I am looking for Forever this time. https://savingwhiskersandtails.rescuegroups.org/forms/form…
